How to earn Money with Online Marketing?
Online marketing seems to be all the rage these days.
I guess more and more people are shunning the crowds at shopping centres and are turning to the convenience of shopping online.
And who can really blame them?
It really is so much more convenient, you can get better deals, and goods can be delivered to your door in a matter of days.
If you are ordering digital products like an eBook or some type of online course or training they can be delivered to your email inbox immediately!
So naturally people are turning their attention to trying to earn a few dollars with this online opportunity, and I personally believe that it is only going to grow over the following decades, so now is the perfect time to learn these valuable skills.
But how do you go about learning how to earn money with online marketing?
What is online marketing?
Webomedia states “Internet marketing, or online marketing, refers to advertising and marketing efforts that use the Web and e-mail to drive direct sales via electronic commerce, in addition to sales leads from Web sites or emails.”
In other words, it is simply marketing products and services on the worldwide web.
For example, I recently wanted to take my Wife on a dinner cruise for her birthday.
So what did I do?
I Googled it, didn’t I?
And lo and behold, up came a heap of Google Ads, advertising their various dinner cruise deals. (By the way, we are going on this cruise next week 😉 )
This is just one of the ways that online marketing can work.
So what other methods are used in online marketing?
Methods of online marketing
- Adwords
As I was previously talking about, Google or Bing Adwords are a popular method of online marketing.
You know when you Google a term and you see the Advertisements at the top or to the side.
With Adwords, online marketers are targeting specific “keyword phrases” that people are typing into a Google or Bing search.

- Facebook Advertising
Advertising on Facebook is a very popular way to advertise your services online.
You can get very specific with who you want to target with your Facebook Ads.
Have you ever noticed after typing a search term into Google, that you then see an AD for that particular product everywhere you look on Facebook?
That’s not by accident.
You’ve just been Facebook pixeled!!
There is something called a Facebook pixel that online marketers place on their websites and it tracks the places you visit online!
Big brother really is watching! Haha 😉
There is a lot to learn with Facebook Advertising, but it can be an absolute gold mine for online marketers.

- Solo Ads
Solo Ads is leveraging the reach of other marketer’s email lists.
How it works is you buy a certain amount of “clicks” from another marketer that will send your offer to his email list of subscribers.
This is great for building up your own email list and I have used this method myself fairly successfully.
I buy my solo ads from Udimi, and they offer a great service.
- Email advertising
Speaking of leveraging other marketer’s email lists, one of your first priorities as an online marketer is to build up your very own email list of subscribers.
Once someone has given you their email address, you can now communicate with your subscribers on a daily basis if you wish.
You can now email them with valuable content, as well as to your offers all for just a small monthly fee to your autoresponder.
It has often been said that “the money is in the list” and the power of this is incredible.
I use Aweber for my email autoresponder and they are an affordable, reliable option.
- Blogging
Another must have for any online marketer, is their own website and blog.
Writing blog content on your website, using “keywords” and search engine optimisation (SEO) is a great way to get your articles ranked on Google, where visitors can find you and your products.
Your website and blog will be the foundation of your online business.
These are some of the main methods of online marketing, but there is much more such as YouTube advertising, and other social media channels like Pinterest, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram.
There is also less desirable forms of online marketing like spamming your link all over social media, that is why it’s important to learn the correct way to market online and build an ethical business that will work long-term.
What to market online?
You can practically market anything online.
Just have a look at Amazon and you can see the abundance of products you can sell.
The best idea, however, is to focus on a small niche section of a market and build your business around that.
You will discover that there are thousands of small “niche” markets that has its own particular audience of people searching online in that area.
Some niches you could sell products for are: Cooking, Yoga, Fishing, Cars, Parenting, Chess, Video games, Marketing/Business, Personal Development, Fashion, Martial Arts, Fitness, Relationships, Collecting Toys, Gardening, Boating, etc.
You can sell physical products in these areas, as well as digital products, and with a bit of experience, you can even create your own products!
The best way to get started online marketing, however, is with affiliate marketing.
What is affiliate marketing?
With affiliate marketing, you can essentially team up with companies such as Amazon and sell their products as an affiliate.
Using online marketing methods as previously discussed, you can promote other people’s products, such as on Amazon or any one of hundreds of companies that you can work with as an affiliate, and when a sale is made, you make a commission.
Commissions with some companies can be as high as 50-75% in some cases.
With this method, you can concentrate your efforts on marketing, and you don’t have to worry about creating products, fulfilment, or customer service.
This is the method I began with online, and as I gained experience I started creating my own products and added them into the mix, and I believe this is how you should start as well.
