The Habits of The Rich Vs The Poor – Part 1
How the Rich Think Differently to Poor People
In his best selling book “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” multi-millionaire businessman T. Harv Eker talks about the habits of the rich vs the poor, and how the mega-rich have a different way of thinking than that of the poor or middle class.
Eker goes on to explain that while he believes that in no way are the rich better than poor people, he believes that the number one reason that the rich are rich, is their mindset and the particular way that they think.
He believes… and I happen to agree with him, that it is your mindset that will help you to get rich, stay rich, and if you happen to lose all your money, will give you the ability to gain it all back again… and more!
Even though you may lose all your money, you can never lose your “Millionaire Mind”
The Millionaire Mind
Think about Donald Trump.
At one stage Trump was a millionaire and then lost all of his money and went bankrupt.
So did the Don pack up his toupee and get a job packing shelves at K-Mart?
No, Trump went and made all his money back and then some… He then became a “Billionaire”.
You see Donald Trump may of lost all his money, but he didn’t lose his way of thinking, or his “Millionaire Mind” (or in Trumps case billionaire mind)
On the other side of the coin think about all of the lotto winners that end up broke shortly afterwards.
This is all to do with your mindset and how you think about money and wealth.
Eker calls these wealth files.
So in this 3-part series of blog posts, I will give my view of these wealth files and the differences of the rich and poor mindset.
Your thoughts lead to your feelings, which lead to your actions, which lead to your results.
And if you want to get rich you need to think rich!
Wealth File #1
Rich people believe “I create my life”
Poor people believe “Life happens to me”
The most important belief you can have that will not only create wealth, but will also allow you to be totally in charge of your life, is the belief that you alone are responsible for your OWN life!
You are in charge!
You are at the steering wheel of your own life, no one else!
You are responsible!
Where as the poor believe there is always something, or someone else to blame.
They blame, complain and justify why it is not their fault and play the victim.
As Harv Eker says “There is no such thing as a really rich victim!”
Until you give up complaining, blaming, playing the victim, and start to take responsibility for your own life and wealth… you will NEVER be rich!
Wealth File #2
Rich people play the money game to win.
Poor people play the money game NOT to lose.
The biggest problem with poor people is that they want to be comfortable.
The trouble with the comfort zone is that you are not growing, and at the end of the day not very happy either.
The goal of rich people is to play the money game to win and to have massive wealth and abundance.
But if you are operating in the comfort zone, you are only operating on defence.
Becoming rich requires taking a chance and putting in some work.
Wealth File #3
Rich people are committed to being rich.
Poor people want to be rich.
Just about everybody wants to be rich, but are you committed?
Getting rich is no walk in the park.
It takes effort, hard work and a never give up attitude.
You have to be committed!
I have made the commitment to becoming rich!
I won’t give up when it becomes hard!
What about you?
Will you commit to being rich?
Wealth File #4
Rich people think big.
Poor people think small.
A famous quote from Donald Trump says “If you are going to think anyway, you may as well think big!”
Poor people play small.
Rich people play big.
The secret to wealth is “value”.
The more value that you give, the more wealth you make.
So THINK BIG!
Wealth File #5
Rich people focus on opportunities.
Poor people focus on obstacles.
On your own road to financial freedom there are going to be obstacles, setbacks, failures, problems, things that won’t work, people putting you down, etc, etc.
Rich people don’t see these as problems, but rather as opportunities to learn, grow and overcome.
I like to think of these roadblocks as challenges to overcome.
If you are going to become rich, accept problems as par for the course and never give up!
I will be back soon with Wealth file #6 and part-2 on The Habits of the Rich Vs The Poor!
