What is the Process of Making Money Online?
Do you want more money and wealth?
Most people do.
And many people even take the next step and try to discover ways to create financial freedom.
If your journey is anything like mine, you first start your road to financial freedom in property investment.
Or maybe you invest in the share market.
But pretty soon you will want to speed up the process, or need to increase your cashflow.
You may soon discover that when you start investing in property in particular, your spare cash can dry up pretty quickly.
Eventually, many people start researching other methods, and may begin trying to make money online.
Unfortunately, most people come across one of the many scams out there that promise overnight success or “get rich quick”, but the only thing that happens quick, is losing your money, rather than making it!
Sadly, this is when many people give up and label making money online a myth or a scam.
In reality, nothing could be further from the truth, however it does take some time and work.
But once you know the basic process of how earning money online actually works, it all falls into place a lot easier.
In this post, I want to walk you through the basic process of making money online, and hopefully it will all become a lot clearer.
5 steps to earning money online
Essentially, the process can be explained in 5 simple steps.
- Your audience
- An online search
- Visitors to your website
- Visitor buys something you recommend
- You earn a commission
Below I will explain the steps in further detail.
Step 1 – Your audience
When you start to build a business online, your very first step is to pick out a “niche” to build your business around.
All a niche is really, is just a particular audience of people.
For example, you may be interested in electronics such as computers and laptops.
You can then build a business around this particular “niche”, and you can make money online selling products to this particular audience, that is also interested in electronics and computers the same as you.
There are literally millions of different niche markets online, that all have there own particular audience.
Along with many others, some examples of niches are health and fitness, cooking, finance, relationships, gardening, personal development, and even making money online.
These can also be broken down into smaller micro-niches that all have their own particular audience.
Things such as iPhone cases, retro video games, basketball shoes, digital photography, sports collectibles, gluten free foods, weight loss routines, Star Trek collectibles, infant clothing, toddler toys, after-market car parts,… these and thousands more small micro-niches can all have a successful online business built around them.
Once you discover who your particular audience is, then it makes the whole process of making money online much easier.
Step 2 – An online search
Once you have your particular audience picked out, they actually do the next step for you.
They are already interested in what you have to offer, and they are actually searching for information on your topic online.
Going back to our earlier example of electronics and computers, your audience may see something that interests them on social media, or they are actually searching for information on Google, which then leads them to click on a link, which then leads them to…
Step 3 – Your website
Having your own website is essential if you want to make money online.
Your website is where you help educate and inform your audience about your particular topic.
A lot of people get hung up on creating content for their website, and that is why a lot of people get caught up in the push-button automated scams, but really it is not that hard.
Yes, it does require some work on your part, but it is no more difficult than having a normal conversation on something that interests you.
That is why picking your niche is so important.
When you choose a topic that you are interested in, are passionate about, or have a knowledge about, it makes creating valuable content for your audience a whole lot easier.
Step 4 – Visitor buys something you recommend to them
Once you have informed and educated your audience, you then recommend them a solution to their problem, and they buy something.
But you don’t sell computers you might say?
You don’t have to.
You can actually team up with a company such as Amazon and sell their products as an affiliate.
This is known as affiliate marketing, and it is a strategy that is used by all the top online marketers, which you too can take advantage of as well.
You can have an affiliate arrangement with hundreds of different companies in any niche that you may be involved with.

Step 5 – Earn a commission
Once you sign up as an affiliate with Amazon or other companies, they will give you what is called an affiliate link.
This is just a simple link that you can embed on your website.
Once someone clicks on that link, it leads them to Amazon where they make a purchase.
The link will track that the purchase has come from your website, and Amazon will pay you a commission.
Some commissions for many companies can be as high as 50 – 75% in some cases.
So for a sale of a $1000 laptop, you may receive a nice affiliate commission in your bank account of $500!
Can you start to see the potential of this?
And you don’t have to spam a heap of Facebook groups, trying to sell a “system” that will make you $500 a day on auto-pilot!

No, you can actually sell real products, to real people, and build a real business online!
