HOW DO YOU CREATE A MINDSET FOR SUCCESS?
It has been said that success is achieved 80% in the mind and 20% strategies.
However, I believe that, (especially for me) it could be as much as 90% to do with your mind.
Because through my experience, if you can’t silence all the noise in your head causing all your doubts, fears and worries, you can have the best strategies in the world, but without the right mindset you will slip into self sabotage and not take the necessary actions to achieve your goals and dreams!
Watch this video below on how to create a success mindset!
WHAT IS A SUCCESS MINDSET?
It all comes down to belief…your belief in yourself and what you are capable of achieving.
If you believe you can do something you most likely can!
If you believe you can’t do something you most likely won’t!
It is the reason you will give up after facing problems or challenges or not starting in the first place!
You see, everyone is capable of achieving so much more out of life, they just don’t even realise it or don’t have the necessary belief in themselves that it is possible!
WHAT CAUSES FAILURE?
The self limiting beliefs that have been rattling around in your subconscious mind since childhood…Think back… What did you hear when you were growing up?
- Money doesn’t grow on trees
- I’m not made of money
- You have to work hard to get ahead
- Go to school, get a good job and work hard for the next 40 years and save for a rainy day
Some of my favourites my Mother used to say when referring to some one that had money were…”he’s got more money than a bull can s**t” or “he’s as tight as a fishes a***hole”
You see my family, like most were hard working, well meaning people, but they were never exposed to any role models of rich and successful people and didn’t know anything different.
Society in general is full of a lot of negativity and people that will put you down, just look at the nightly news… I rarely watch it anymore, it is just too depressing!!
Some of the self limiting beliefs that I continue to deal with include…Procrastination, Fear of rejection, Fear of Failure, The Fear of putting yourself out there, Plus numerous doubts and worries.
SO HOW DO YOU CHANGE YOUR MINDSET?
The bad news is it does take time but you can start straight away!
What I have done and continue to do is continually feed my mind with good information.
- Listen to audios… I try to do this while going for a walk or exercising or driving my car.
- Read books… some of the good ones include “The Charge by Brendon Burchard” “The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey” “Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers” or the classic “Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill”
- You Tube some of these people as well as others such as Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, T Harv. Ecker, Doug Nelson and Robert Kiyosaki. These people and others have been great mentors and role models to myself.
- Find a mentor or life coach and surround yourself with like minded people such as the community at Wealthy Affiliate
- Also using tools such as positive affirmations and declarations
- The power of visualisation and meditation
- Creating a mission statement or code of conduct that will hold yourself to a higher standard
- And of course there will continue to be a wealth of information here at My Road To Financial Freedom.com!
In summary, working on your mindset is a life long journey that will never end, but the more you work on yourself your rewards will come back in spades.

DISCOVER MY SECRET WEAPON FOR CREATING FINANCIAL FREEDOM!
Hi John,
Having the right mindset is critical in anything in life and at any stage. Our minds are so powerful that I don’t think, most of the time, we can even comprehend this strength.
In the rehab setting as a therapist, you can see how the mind creates patterns of thoughts and that those thoughts are strengthened through repetition of actions, statements, or belief systems.
I really like some of your suggestions on the books, but more on how you apply a good mindset through your daily activities, more people need to do the same thing and I think we’d be surprised at the positive results in can place into our lives.
Great words of inspiration and thanks for this awesome post, perfect to start my day 🙂
Todd
Thanks so much for your comment Todd!
Our minds truly are amazing and if we can control our thoughts we can control our lives.
The problem is that most of us are just running on auto-pilot and don’t realise that we actually have the power to control our thoughts and our minds when we become aware of it and choose to do so 🙂
Hi John, your post on mindset is awesome and there’s lots of valuable information to absorb here 😀
Having the right positive mindset will help to get people anywhere in life but having a negative mindset will certainly lead to bad things and negativity is something that should be avoided at all costs.
Having the right mindset does take practice but the end result is worth it 😉

I am really glad you liked it Neil.
It all comes down to a positive mindset and self belief, thanks again for the feedback!
You are all so right about having the right mindset.
I have been out of work for some time now and it took me a long time to get my mind in the right place. It is a constant battle not to slip back into the negative thinking that will haunt me from time to time.
Hi Marla, thanks for your comment.
You are right, you have to constantly be on guard for the little voices in your head and not let them stop you achieving your dreams and goals!
Best of luck and I am happy to help in any way I can!
Hi John,
I enjoyed reading your post. Here is my take on this topic: What we think and the way we think is usually just a habit born out of our environment and upbringing. If we think about something repeatedly in a certain way, it becomes our belief.
So changing what we “think” is a good way to change our beliefs.
Just as we cannot see our face unless we look in the mirror, some gurus suggest that we should hold a mirror to our beliefs so we can identify them.
I’m not a big fan of that approach because it simply takes too long and why look back to look forward?
I “believe”…lol…a better way to change our mindset is to identify what we “choose or want” to believe and condition our minds accordingly. For example, I can think several times a day, and before going to sleep at night that “I am confident and know that I can do this” – or words to that effect.
Repeat it often, and it will erase those old limiting beliefs, even the ones you don’t even know you had, because your new script will take over, usually within 30 days.
If you need any assistance with your site, don’t hesitate to send me a message. I’m always glad to help. I look forward to reading more.

Hi, Jude, Thanks so much for your comment and support.
I totally agree with what you say, we can decide what we choose to think about and focus on!
Great motivational page! I used to think that I couldn’t do things because of what others had said while growing up but in the last past 10 years my mindset has changed and I’m more determined that ever to be successful. It’s amazing how a positive attitude to the goals you have can help you to achieve them.
Thank you Rachel, That is why it is so important to have like minded people around you for support, such as the community here at Wealthy Affiliate!
