EDUCATE YOURSELF

There is an old quote from Tony Robbins which says… “If you are not growing you are dying”

I would certainly agree with that statement and I would have to say that one of the major keys to any ongoing success would be the principle of continuous and never ending improvement, as well as growing yourself into the person you were meant to be through self growth and education.

THE TROUBLE WITH THE EDUCATION SYSTEM

There is another famous quote that comes from Jim Rohn which says… “Formal education will make you a living, self education will make you a fortune”

While I am not against the current education system as such, my wife in particular is a big believer in the education system and our oldest daughter has just started a University Business Degree. I do believe that in general the education system teaches you how to get a J.O.B but doesn’t really teach you much about money management and wealth creation.

Also it tends to reward making minimal mistakes, where as with entrepreneurship, you learn your most valuable lessons through the mistakes and problems that you encounter along the way! It has been said that the average millionaire has been broke between 2-3 times before finally making it! There is a pattern.. You make it, you lose it, you make it, you lose it, you make it, you make it, you make it!!!

MY SELF EDUCATION

The learning curve from where I was several years ago to be able to grow myself into the person capable of achieving financial freedom was truly massive. From living 30 odd years with the mindset of working in a J.O.B that I did not like until I was 65 years old and then hoping that I would of squirreled enough away to last until my dying days, into changing my mindset to one of prosperity and abundance, does not happen overnight and requires an enormous amount of self education, self growth and development.

What I have also realised, is that the more that I seem to know, the more I discover that there is SO much more that I don’t know!!

SO WHAT HAVE I DONE?

• READ!! It has been said that leaders are readers!
• Read as many books as you can on money management, particular strategies and on mindset. Some of the classics that have helped me are… Think and Grow Rich, The Richest Man in Babylon, The Charge, Rich Dad Poor Dad. The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People and Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind.
• Gone to seminars
• Joined Mentoring groups
• Online courses
• Hired a personal coach
• You tubed people such as Tony Robbins, T. Harv Ecker, Bob Proctor, Brian Tracey, John Assaraf and Jim Rohn.
• Found mentors and coaches
• Listened to audio CD’s while driving or exercising

Overall my self education has probably cost close to $20,000. Some of which was very well spent and some of which not so much, but through all of my mistakes I have learnt so many valuable lessons!

IN CONCLUSION

If you are determined to achieve Financial Freedom, continuous self education is a must.

One thing you must be aware of however is that there are a lot of spruikers and scam artists out there, especially in the online and seminar world and that is another driving force behind me starting this website.

I want to help as many people as I can, with the lessons that I have learnt along my road and hopefully they will not make the same mistakes that I have, and anyone that I recommend on this site is someone that I have used personally and has helped me along My Road To Financial Freedom.

So my advice would be to read as much as you possibly can, listen to motivational audio CD’s, you tube some of these people, go to seminars but leave the credit card at home. Gain as much free information as you can,weigh it all up, then decide who you would like to mentor or coach you.

Remember the more good stuff that you can feed your mind, the better off you will be.

A good analogy is to think of your mind like a garden… if you don’t put good stuff in, then weeds will appear!
